The Beautiful Ms. Janessa Tek-ing

I've done makeup to a lot of people, especially those who are really close to me and those who trust me enough to let me do their makeup. I have those regular people who let me do their makeup. These are the girls who I have known which type of eye makeup would suit them best, what kind of coverage to apply and  that kind of stuff. I'll be featuring some of those girls and i'll show photos of them wearing makeup that i've applied to them.

First up is my beautiful friend, Janessa Tek-ing.

What she usually does is she shows me some pictures of what she would actually want to look. She has this photos of various celebrities in her phone and she'd let me see them for reference. Janessa has a fair to medium skin color with a cool skin tone. I usually use a gray-black palette on her eyes. She is also one of the girls whose faces are easy to put makeup on. I also shape and clean her eyebrows regularly. You can say she's one of my regular customers (?) haha.

Here are more pictures of her.

 After PLUMA Mock Defense.

For PANA Shooting.

ImagiNation event.

Christmas Party 2012.

PILLARS Lecture.

Party Rock.

It's easy to see that Janessa is already a very beautiful girl. She's one of the faces I really enjoy putting makeup on. I'm hoping that i could work with her more, I know there's a lot that i can do especially to her eyes and cheeks. :)

My Christmas Beauty Wishlist

Children want their toys. Some people want gadgets and gizmos. I want makeup.
Here are some items that would really make my Christmas dreams come true. (if ever some people give me these. Haha!)

#1. 10 Color Concealer Palette

I've already seen an item like this somewhere in Divisoria in Manila. (I think it's in 168 mall.) The price range is more or less 500 pesos which makes it 50 pesos for each color. This will be extremely useful for me, especially since i want to practice makeup artistry and since i'll be putting makeup on many different people with different skin colors and tones.

#2. 6 Color Blusher Palette

Same as above, i can use this when applying makeup for other people. I still haven't seen an item like this here in Manila yet, but I sometimes search online shopping websites and the price range is usually from 400-600.

#3. 14-piece Sephora Brush Set

Good makeup skills start with good makeup brushes. Of course you need a set of trusted and long-lasting brushes that you know will work for you and for your products. Besides that, Sephora is a trusted cosmetics brand. And another pus is that their brush set is so pretty. :D

#4. 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette (preferably with warm and cool colors, in shimmer and matte)

Nothing beats this item. EVER. Once you have this eyeshadow palette, you are definitely set for life. This is perfect for those who are really into experimenting colors and for those who want either extreme or animated and creative makeup. You can probably do many eye makeup techniques here. (I usually see palettes like these in makeup tutorials that feature trying to look alike celebrities and tutorials teaching how to do creative eye makeup.

#5. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Medium/Deep

BB creams are all the rage today. This is because they not only give you a light and fresh coverage (which is suitable for everyday use), BB creams also come in formulas that are skin moisturizing and anti-wrinkle. So it's not only makeup, it's also a skin moisturizer and an antioxidant all rolled into one. Of course, you have to know which product is actually suitable for your skin type before you use it. Anyway, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream is not widely sold here in Manila. I still haven't seen it in local drugstores yet. Maybe I'll check in department stores. But what i do know is that this item's price ranges from 800-1000 per tube.

Of course I still have a lot in my wishlist. I know that I've been a good girl all year so maybe I might be able to get my hands on one of these. :) or maybe two. Who knows? Haha!

Everyday look for school or work

This is a simple tutorial post for applying makeup for an everyday morning fresh look. You can do this look for only 5 minutes, depending on the routine that you will build. Of course, that will depend on you and the products that you will use but the steps that i will show is simple, quick and easy.

A fresh morning everyday look. Perfect for going to school or work. :)

This is how i look without makeup. :)

First of all is to even out your skin. What i use is my Ever Bilena Advance Concealer Pencil which is in Warm Honey. Basically i put the product on my most problematic areas, namely my eyes, on my nose and the corners of my mouth. (I'll only be doing the makeup on one side of my face so you can see the difference.)

I then proceed to even out the concealer using my middle and ring fingers. (i don't recommend using your forefinger. The forefinger has bigger pores so it absorbs most of your product, you'll only end up wasting makeup.) It should look like this.

After putting on your concealer, you have two choices. You can put foundation which is recommended if you want heavier and fuller coverage or you can opt to just a powder. Since this is just an everyday look, i'm going to just put on my Ever Bilena Advance HD Compact Powder in Golden Radiance. I apply it using my Nichido Kabuki brush.

When done it should look like this.

Next is putting on the blush. I use my Careline blush powder in Morena Star using my Blush Brush.

What you do is to brush on your blush powder and to tap the brush on your finger to remove excess product. You then sweep your brush from the apples of your cheek up to your temples.

It should look like this when done.

Let's move on to the eye brows. I use my Careline Color Pencil in Black (i don't really recommend using black pencil liner for your eyebrows but i have a way of using it that compliments my skin color.) and my Marionnaud Eyebrow brushes.

What you do is using short and light upward strokes, line your eyebrows. be careful not to create stray smudges. then using the brush included in the pencil, i brush my eyebrows upwards.

when that's done, it should look like this.

next, i use my Marionnaud eyebrow brush, particularly the end shown on the picture below, and brush my brows upwards.

Then i apply a matte dark brown eyeshadow (third color on the last row) on my brows using the other end (angled brush) of my Marionnaud eyebrow brush.

When done, it should look like this.

You can also put a white or cream colored eyeshadow under your eyebrows or on your brow bone. This technique is called the "Push-up Bra" for your eyebrows.

Let's move on to the eyelids. You may put on a simple eyeshadow, a solid pastel color if you'd like. Since i'm doing an everyday look, i'm gonna skip the eyeshadow and go straight to putting on liquid eyeliner above my upper lashline. you may put it as thinly as you want or you can go bold and apply it thick. I used my Avon Metallic Liquid Eyeliner in Black.

It looks like this once done.

You can also put eyeliner on your lower lashline, but since this is for a fresh morning look, you can skip it. I recommend putting liner on the lower lashline if it's for an evening look.

After that, we move on to the lips.you can put on just gloss or a lip balm. (if you don't have that much time) or you can also put on a solid color lipstick to make your lips pop. for this look, i use my Nivea Fruity Shine in Pomegranate and Nichido Satin Moist Lipstick in Raisin.

This is how it looks once done.

AND I'M DONE! That's really it. It's a pretty easy routine to do. You may use this everyday if you want to look pretty in school or in your workplace.

If you have some questions regarding the steps or the products that i use, you may leave me a message on my Facebook account, or just leave a comment on this post. :)

Christmas Party Makeup

We just had our Christmas Party and of course, you wouldn't go to a party unprepared! So I myself did my own makeup and it ended up like this. (BTW I did my hair as well.)

Ok, so what i really emphasized with my makeup on that night was my eyes. Of course as the start, i used my Ever Bilena Concealer in Warm Honey to hide the dark circles on my eyes and to conceal blemishes on my face. I then proceeded on applying my foundation, which is Ever Bilena ProFlawless Finish Foundation in Beige. I set it with my Ever Bilena Advance HD Compact Powder in Golden Radiance.

(You may notice that I use a lot of Ever Bilena products. This is because i have tried and tested products that are gentle on my sensitive skin and Ever Bilena products are the ones who came up best for my skin. You may try looking for products that suit your skin type or maybe just your own preference.)

After setting my foundation with powder, I put blush on my cheeks using my blush brush and Careline blush in Morena Star.

Moving on to my eyes, i used my Ever Bilena Eyeshadow 12 Shades particularly the golden shimmer and the matte black to create a smoky eye effect. Afterwards, i used my Avon Metallic Liquid Eyeliner in Black to define my upper lash line. To give my eyes more emphasis, i put on my thick false eyelashes.

For my eyebrows, first i used my Careline Color Pencil to define my brows, then i applied a matte brown eyeshadow from my Ever Bilena palette in order to match my brow color to my skin tone.

I didn't use any lipstick for my lips. Instead, i opted for my ever-trusted tinted lipbalm, Nivea Fruity Shine in Pomegranate.

So there, that's how i achieved my look for that night. I'm hoping next time, i could post pictures of the actual products that i used for those people who want to know. :)

Let's all be painted ladies!

How i started with makeup.

I put my make-up on myself. I had a bit of help putting on false eye lashes though. (courtesy of Princess Maniquis) :)

I started putting on make-up when i was still in my second year of high school. Back then, we had to put on make-up because we sang in front of the congregation. I was a member of the Praise and Worship team of our church. During that time, all i knew was to put on lipgloss. I didn't know what shade of foundation to use, what a concealer is or whatever the purpose of a blush is for. Whenever i used a pencil eyeliner, my eyes would tear up and i would end up with black smudges under my eyes.

Eventually, i learned how to do things bit-by-bit. i had really undefined eyebrows so i started shaving the stray hairs, being careful as to not cut my skin with a razor. back then, i didn't know what i was doing, so i didn't shave my brows regularly yet.

I have atopic dermatitis (skin asthma) which makes it hard for me to use just any product. I have to be very meticulous with any product that i would put on my skin. I also have to be careful with the brushes i use. I had this skin lacerations above my lip which was pretty much the cause of my inferiority complex, and i couldn't just hide it with any concealer or foundation because putting any product on it would only make it worse. So what i did was i let my skin heal first completely (i would regularly moisturize my skin and put an anti-inflammatory ointment) before putting any make-up on my face. The irritation above my lip still emerges from time to time, but that's only because of lack of sleep and stress.

Well, now i've learned and improved a lot ever since i started. I know now what kind of brushes to use with what product, what colors to blend with each other, how to tell a person's skin tone and many others. I want to improve more in putting on make-up. Right now, i'm already investing on products that i can trust and i'm still trying to train myself by learning from tutorials, books and magazines. I want to be a make-up artist. Not just so that i could look pretty but also because i love making other people pretty as well.

I started this blog because i want to show and tell the world how i do make-up and how i still yearn to improve. I'll be posting here various make-up styles that i love, products that i use for myself and for others, make-up techniques that i learn from tutorials and latest trends on make-up. I hope that this blog can be a help and an inspiration to other girls out there who share the same sentiment as i do.
